Fragments of an Ordinary Mind

Uniqueness

I don’t know what to say. Or maybe I have a lot circling around my head, a tight knot of thoughts trying to break through, and always reminding me not to take it anymore. But I just can’t come up with the words to describe them in a way people would understand.

I haven’t got much to share. Probably because I haven’t got any “special memory” event in my lifetime (not yet, I assume). But I… of course… do have some characteristics, since every being in this universe has its own distinct properties.

Don’t think I’m saying that I’m someone special, or that I have some unique properties. I believe that every human being is special and unique—we just have to truly look to see it. We don’t have the same height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color; not even the same mentalities, interests, dislikes, disgusts, opinions, family backgrounds, present situations, past nightmares, or future expectations.

Not only that, if you grab two people out of nowhere and examine their fingerprints—they won’t match. Not even the iris structures, the number of hairs, the bends and paths of the tiny blood vessels – nothing will match up exactly the same. Or even if one property does match, the other won’t.

From the obvious physical features that we can easily distinguish, to the tiniest properties that we can’t see or even realize, along with our philosophies, trusts, and beliefs—there will always be at least one difference that makes two people unique.

Everybody is profoundly unique down to the smallest detail. So don’t try to imitate someone, do the same thing in your own way.
