“Wear a jacket. I don’t have the money for you if you get sick.” How selfish and idiotic can a parent be, to say this to their son? more concerned about money than about their own child.

Sometimes, parents lead with the fear of money and survival instead of love and care—forgetting how sharply their words can hit their children.

When the lack of money is the actual problem in the family, parents tend to see their children as financial burdens, instead of beloved members of the family. It’s not because the parents don’t love them—but scarcity rewires the way they speak and think.

The fear of survival causes parents to prioritize money over care.

A single sentence is enough to shatter a lifetime relationship. People say we should think a thousand times before speaking—now I understand why.

If I ever become a dad (which I don’t want to), I’ll never let scarcity break the bond in my family. I’ll love my wife and children more than any “piece of paper”. Most likely, they won’t love me back, but I won’t expect them to either.

The night has deepened into an abyss,
