Not Getting Married

Whenever I tell my friends that I don’t want to be in a relationship and might stay single for the rest of my life, they assume I have no intention of ever getting married. Deep down, I genuinely want to get married and build a beautiful family—I just don’t talk about it often.
What I hope to find in a wife feels rare in today’s world—maybe even impossible… or maybe I just haven’t met the right person yet.
I want a woman who won’t walk away during my lowest moments, but will stand beside me through every season of life. I want someone who will choose me over my money. But in a world where financial success often comes first, this wish mostly feels impossible.
So I’ve decided that if financial stability never comes, I’m okay with staying single my entire life. Even if I become financially successful one day, I’d rather wait years—even decades—than marry the wrong person. But if I never meet someone who truly shares those values, then yes… I’m okay to stay alone my entire life—I’ve already learned how to be content on my own.
I’m not seeking perfection. I believe nobody is perfect. But a woman who chooses you only for your income, lifestyle, or financial security, can easily turn your beautifully organized life into a hell, and can make you never want to love someone ever again. It happens… it does happen more often than people like to admit.
On the other hand, a woman who loves “you”, not your wealth, and stays even closer when you’re broke, can help put the broken pieces of your life back together with kindness, patience, and love. She can make the difficult times feel like blessings, and turn your pain into peace.
In my view, the most important decision in life isn’t choosing a career—it’s choosing the person you’ll spend the rest of your life with. And honestly, I’m not even sure if I’ll ever feel ready to choose a person like that.
Again, I’m not looking for a woman who will fear me or do whatever I tell her to do. I just want someone who will choose me over money or status. And if that’s too much to ask, or if I never find someone like that, then I’m at peace with staying single for the rest of my life.
