I don’t quite understand what our college is trying to do.

On the night of 13th July, they announced that the college would be closed on 14th July and that the college buses wouldn’t operate. Then, last night, they announced that today’s classes were cancelled as well.

I don’t understand why they keep posting Facebook status updates day by day instead of publishing a proper official notice. What could be the reason?

I assume it’s because of the rain. The heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in many parts of the country. Mountainous and low-lying regions such as Chattogram, Sylhet etc. have been hit particularly hard. Even in Dhaka, many roads have become heavily waterlogged, with water reaching as high as people’s hips, making it difficult for people to travel.

Maybe that’s why the college keeps cancelling classes, considering the difficulties students might face while traveling.

Or maybe it’s because of the student movement demanding the resignation of the education minister over the difficult and controversial HSC Physics exam questions, and for keeping the exam running despite the heavy rain, making it difficult for many students to reach their centers.

But if that’s the case, why not issue a formal notice and suspend classes for a few days at once, instead of making a new announcement every single night?

I don’t know. And honestly, I don’t even care.
